Tint that makes sense for San Ramon's EVs

Panoramic and full-glass roofs on the Model 3, Model Y, Ioniq 5, Mach-E and similar EVs are the largest heat inlet on the vehicle. Factory glass blocks some UV but far less infrared than owners expect. Ceramic roof film cuts that load noticeably, and on an EV, less air conditioning means slightly more range on hot days.

Non-metallic ceramic film also matters for a modern car full of antennas and sensors: no interference with the key fob, FasTrak on the 680, GPS, LTE or satellite radio.

As always, California caps front side windows at 70% VLT or clearer, while rear side glass and the back window can go as dark as 5%. We lay out exactly what's legal before we cut a single piece of film.

FAQ

Window tinting questions from San Ramon.

Can you tint a Tesla glass roof?

Yes. We tint Model 3 and Model Y glass roofs regularly, along with Model S and Model X panoramic glass. It's the change owners notice most on a hot day.

Does tint drain or affect EV systems?

No. Our ceramic films are non-metallic, so cameras, sensors, key fobs, GPS and cellular are unaffected. If anything, less cabin heat means the climate system works less hard.

What shade can I legally put on the front windows?

70% VLT or clearer in California. Because ceramic film rejects heat rather than relying on darkness, a legal 70% up front still makes a real difference.

How long is the appointment?

Most vehicles are 2–3 hours; adding a glass roof extends it somewhat. Keep windows up for 3–5 days afterward while the film cures.

Is Crystalline worth the upgrade over Xenith?

Crystalline is the top-performing film on the market and measurably better in heat rejection and clarity. Xenith is still an excellent ceramic film and the right call for many budgets. We'll show you the numbers for both.
